Dr. George Panariello

Dr. George Panariello, our surgeon director, has been providing surgical care for his patients for over 30 years.  Trained as a corneal-anterior segment surgeon, Dr. Panariello has performed over 15,000 cataract operations and is considered one of NY's premiere LASIK surgeons. Dr. Panariello's advanced training in micro-surgery allows him to perform highly skillful corneal transplant and glaucoma surgery.

Dr.  Panariello has been an innovator of the most modern surgical techniques.  Dr. Panariello uses the tiniest incision to insert the lens implant, and uses relaxing incisions when necessary to eliminate astigmatism.  Both cataract surgery and LASIK are performed with the use of topical anesthetic drops (no needles); thus, the patient does not need to be patched and goes home seeing reasonably well the next day.  Dr. Panariello is associated with the prestigious Manhattan Eye and Ear, and has taught anterior segment disease to the students of SUNY College of Optometry.  He has authored numerous papers with Dr. Jeffrey Cooper.  He is available at both the Manhattan and Brooklyn offices.
